Mother Goose

In April, Maddie played Mother Goose in the first grade play, which meant she had the lead role. I was a little nervous because she had a lot of lines and a solo. But I should've known Maddie would have no problem with that! (We are certainly NOT alike in that aspect!) She did an amazing job!! We were so proud of her! (And thanks to Aunt Corie and good friend Steve for coming to watch!)

Trip to Charlotte's 50th Birthday Party (March 20-23, 2009)

My Aunt Charlotte turned 50 this year, so we drove down to Florida for the party my Uncle Jamie threw her. Maddie, Wesley and I took Thursday off (well, okay, Maddie did) and drove over to my parents' house in Florence, SC so I wouldn't have to make the 8 hour drive by myself.

We went down on a Thursday night and spent Friday hanging out at a little carnival/festival that the local Toyota dealership was sponsoring. They had the big pump-up slides, free pizza and an amazing petting zoo that had more animals than most small zoos. We had a ton of fun--and we hadn't even left for Florida yet!

Maddie with Poppa on his motorcycle.

This is probably one of my favorite pictures ever!

Dancing at Nonna & Poppa's (Their favorite thing to do!)

Everyone loved the big jumpy slide! (Including the poor guys that Nonna ran over when she fell down the steps--backwards!! I've never laughed so hard!)

Cookie the Camel

Maddie with the cute kangaroo before it fell asleep for the rest of the day. (Did you know that kangaroos are nocturnal?)

Wesley was scared to death of the goats. (They were pretty aggressive.) It took hours--literally--for him to work up the nerve to feed them.

He never did warm up to Cookie.

Maddie, the Goat Girl
(After we left, that's what she told us she wanted to be when she grew up.)

Maddie, loving the pony ride.

Wesley, not loving the pony ride.
He lasted about 30 seconds. He would've jumped off had I not been there to grab him.

Wesley, on one of the animal handlers seats. When the man asked for it back, Wesley told him that it was his (Wesley's) seat.
